About

La Casita is a small, intimate home tucked into a village of twenty or thirty people on the wild west coast of Corsica, in a UNESCO-protected area where the nature is always untouched. Marie-Louise, a language trainer who swapped a city center in Montpellier for this hidden corner of the island, has spent two years restoring the house and connecting it to fiber internet. She lives upstairs; her two guests have the ground floor, their own private area, and direct access to the kitchen and garden. The kitchen is the heart of the house, the one place where everyone comes together, sometimes for a morning coffee, sometimes to cook. Marie-Louise describes the feeling here as slowing down and becoming stronger, mentally and physically. The people who have come and stayed left knowing what they were searching for. They recharged their batteries. The nature on this island is so powerful that some people find it overwhelming. For those who are ready for it, it is extraordinary.

Work & WiFi

  • Fiber internet with 205 Mbps download and 96
  • 4 Mbps upload speeds
  • Wired ethernet connection available
  • 4G/5G mobile hotspot available as backup internet
  • Internet performs reliably during peak hours and bad weather
  • The shared living room doubles as a workspace with up to 4 workstations
  • Work desk available in each private room
  • Early and late calls can be taken without disturbing others
  • Power outages are rare; a backup generator or UPS is available

Community & Social

  • La Casita is a home, not a hub
  • With only two rooms and four guests maximum, the community is small and genuinely close
  • Marie-Louise is on-site part-time and brings a calm, unhurried energy to the house
  • Mornings often start with a shared coffee or tea hour; some afternoons follow the same rhythm
  • Depending on who is staying, she organises excursions into the surrounding landscape, guided walks, and even swimming sessions
  • She loves mixing generations and has worked with people from eighteen to sixty throughout her career
  • The connection here is real but not forced
  • Everyone has their own space and their own pace

Comfort & Living

  • Two private rooms of approximately 12 m2 each, both with double beds and quality mattresses
  • The 'green room' has a full-width sliding door with direct garden access and bamboo furniture
  • The 'blue-white room' has a sheltered window, traditional Corsican furniture, and a cosier feel
  • Both rooms have ensuite private bathrooms, blackout curtains, and a lock on the door
  • Air conditioning is available in the rooms; note there is no central heating
  • In winter, the AC and a small portable gas heater are the only heating options
  • The wall between the two rooms is solid masonry and has never caused noise complaints
  • Fully equipped shared kitchen, living room, garden and terrace, barbecue area, and a small olive grove on site
  • Free drinking water, coffee, and tea provided
  • Washing machine available on site
  • Room cleaning is not included in the price
  • Airport or port pickup is not included but can be arranged separately

Location & Surroundings

  • Located in the hamlet of Curzo in Osani, a village of around twenty to thirty people on Corsica's west coast
  • Situated directly on the D81 coastal road between Ajaccio and Calvi, in a UNESCO-protected natural area
  • The Mare e Monti hiking trail runs directly past the house
  • Nearest beach is approximately 4 km away
  • Nearest supermarket is approximately 4 km away in Partinello, which also has a pizzeria and small shop
  • A baker drives past three times a week; a fruit and vegetable vendor comes once a week
  • Porto, with a full range of shops and services, is a 12-minute drive toward Ajaccio
  • Nearest airport (Ajaccio) is 52 km away, approximately 75 minutes by car
  • Public transport is limited: in winter there is a weekday bus to Ajaccio or Calvi; taxis are available locally
  • A car is helpful but not strictly required
  • Surfing, swimming, hiking, cycling, and all water sports are accessible nearby
  • The neighbourhood is very safe

Perfect for

Remote workers and nature lovers who want to slow down properly. People who enjoy hiking, swimming, or just being outside. Those who are comfortable with themselves and happy in a small, quiet community. Guests who appreciate a host who cooks, speaks multiple languages, and genuinely cares who is staying in her home. Best from autumn through spring when the island is calm and the climate is healthy.

Not right for

People who struggle to be alone with themselves or who need constant stimulation. Those looking for a lively social scene or nightlife. Guests sensitive to cold in winter, as heating is limited to air conditioning and a small portable gas heater. Anyone who needs a large coworking setup or dedicated office environment. The village is very quiet and sparsely populated, which is a feature for some and a dealbreaker for others.
