About

Mas Pujols is a restored 1500s stone farmhouse at the edge of a tiny mountain village, an hour and a half from Barcelona, an hour and a half from France, and an hour and a half from the coast. Gala, the founder, knocked on the neighbor's door to find the owner, walked inside, and knew immediately this was something she had to share. The front of the house faces nothing but mountains and fields. The back faces a village of 600 people where you can walk to a wood-baked bakery, a café, a swimming pool, and a fountain with a little river just in front of the property. This is not a holiday and it is not a hotel. It is a home for people who need the headspace to work on something that matters to them. A book, a business, a thesis, a painting, a life transition. The walls are stone, the internet is Starlink, and the doors are open. Gala lives here full-time and the philosophy is simple: come with a purpose, respect the space and the people in it, and no one will ask you to explain yourself. You can miss the barbecue. You can work for ten hours. You can sit under the big trees at La Fonda La Prada and look at the sky. No guilt, no programme, no pressure. Every now and then, themed weeks bring a small group together around a shared focus. The writing week in August is one example, led by the founder of Brilliant Think, designed to make the writing process a little less lonely and a lot more productive. More collaborations are planned. But mostly, community here happens the way Gala intended: organically, over a shared meal, on a morning walk, or in a conversation that starts because someone is curious about what you are building.

Work & WiFi

  • Starlink residential WiFi with download speeds of 100 Mbps and upload speeds of 47 Mbps
  • Connection is generally reliable during peak hours, with occasional brief interruptions in severe weather
  • No wired ethernet option and no backup internet connection
  • The shared living room doubles as a coworking area with up to 8 workstations
  • Some ergonomic seating available
  • No dedicated phone booth, but early and late calls can be taken without disturbing other residents
  • Work desk included in every private room
  • Power outages are rare, a few times per year at most, and there is no generator backup

Community & Social

  • Community at Mas Pujols is never forced
  • Gala's philosophy is to open the doors and let people find their own rhythm
  • Most connection happens organically: a shared lunch, a conversation in the kitchen, a walk to the fountain
  • When new guests arrive there is sometimes a welcome dinner
  • Shared meals happen during the week when people feel like it
  • Friday evenings might bring a community barbecue if the weather is good
  • Weekends can involve hikes, visits to local markets, or spontaneous outings organised by whoever is there
  • Yoga and mindful movement sessions happen occasionally
  • Organised events are ad-hoc and low-pressure
  • A couple of times a year, themed weeks gather a small group around a shared focus, like the writing week in August
  • The vibe sits at a 9 out of 10 for calm and a 6 out of 10 for social
  • There are no parties here

Comfort & Living

  • 4 private rooms in total: 3 doubles and 1 single
  • Shared bathroom per every 3 residents
  • All rooms have blackout curtains and a lock on the door
  • Stone walls from 1500 provide natural soundproofing between rooms
  • Linens, towels, utilities, heating, and WiFi are all included in the price
  • Free drinking water, coffee, and tea provided
  • Fully equipped shared kitchen, living room, garden and terrace, BBQ area, and a gym and fitness area on site
  • Parking available on site
  • No air conditioning in rooms, but altitude keeps temperatures cool, especially in evenings
  • Washing machine access available
  • Pet-friendly with conditions: well-behaved dogs welcome by prior agreement; must be supervised outdoors due to chickens and local wildlife
  • Host Gala lives on-site full-time

Location & Surroundings

  • Located in Sant Boi de Lluçanès, a rural village of around 600 people in the Osona region of Catalonia
  • Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes by car from Barcelona, 1 hour 30 minutes from France, and 1 hour 30 minutes from the coast
  • Nearest airport is Girona-Costa Brava, approximately 1 hour 10 minutes by car
  • The village centre is a 10-minute walk and includes a wood-baked bakery, small deli, pharmacy, café, restaurant, and public swimming pool open June to September
  • A popular nature track, La Fonda La Prada, starts directly in front of the house
  • Cycling and hiking routes begin from the property
  • The local sports centre is a short walk away with a gym, cardio and weight training, and spinning classes twice a week
  • Colivers can access gym classes at discounted rates through the host's collaboration with a local trainer
  • The village of Perafita is 10 minutes by car and offers additional cafés, artisan shops, and local food producers
  • Public transport is limited
  • A car is helpful but not required for day-to-day life
  • The host helps organise shared rides to nearby towns and larger supermarkets when needed
  • The neighbourhood is very safe with a strong rural community feel
  • August brings a 10-day traditional Catalan village festival with live music, theatre, community meals, and local celebrations

Perfect for

Remote workers, writers, creatives, entrepreneurs, and people in a life transition who need space to focus on something that matters. People who want to slow down, think clearly, and feel quietly connected to others without being forced into a social programme. Guests tend to be 30 to 60, independent, and drawn to nature, simplicity, and meaningful work.

Not right for

Not right for anyone looking for nightlife, a busy social scene, constant entertainment, or city conveniences on the doorstep. Public transport is limited, so those without a car will have less freedom to explore. This is a slow, quiet, rural home. Luxury hotel services are not on offer. If you need a large supermarket nearby or lots of restaurant options, this is probably not the right fit.
